Election Day is just two days away. I suspect most of you have voted already. If not, fill out your ballot on the basis of Biblical principles and turn it in. It’s your right as a citizen and your responsibility as a follower of Christ.
Then what? We could be in for some really difficult days if certain people are elected. What do we do if that happens? What do we do if we find ourselves under persecution as Peter’s original audience did?
1. We pray for whoever is in office. Remember, God “appointed” them (Rom. 13).
2. We stand for truth, even if it costs us something (Stephen – Acts 7).
3. We honor them (I Peter 2:17). They are in a position of authority.
4. As much as is possible, we obey them (I Peter 2:13-14; Acts 5:29). When it is not possible because they are making demands we cannot as believers obey, we decline graciously and without rancor.
Life after the vote may be different. We still need to be godly.
