I was reading in John 9 about the man born blind who received his sight from Jesus. There are a lot of story lines in that chapter (the stubborn Pharisees, the fearful parents, the Sabbath, etc.) but I want to focus on v. 25. A lot of people are fearful of witnessing because they are afraid they will be asked a question they cannot answer. The experience of the healed blind man is helpful. He didn’t try to dive into things he didn’t understand. Instead, he focused on what he knew. “One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.” The skeptical Pharisees could not refute those facts. They tried, but they had no answer for that. He spoke about that which he knew. When you are witnessing, don’t get off in the weeds dealing with some obscure point of theology. Stay on what you know. “I was a sinner, Jesus died on the cross and saved me from my sin. Now He lives in my heart.” That’s the Gospel in action in your life.
