“The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving.” (H.U. Westermayer)
We have precious little idea what it really means to suffer. As Americans, we are blessed by God beyond measure. Our forbears – and many of our brothers and sisters in Christ in other lands – know much more of suffering than we can imagine, yet they find reason to thank God. Let’s take counsel from them. Let’s find reasons to give thanks. A grateful people is a contented people, and we have MUCH for which we can be thankful.
