That’s a pretty important question, don’t you think? How do you know God saved you? What did He do? How did you respond? What had to happen in order for you to become a genuine Christian?
We have a pretty good idea of what Jesus did – He died on the cross for our sins and rose again to conquer death. Most people who claim to be Christian are on board with that. But what do we have to do? Do we have to say a prayer? Do we have to do good works? Do we have to believe? Do we have to be baptized? What is essential to salvation?
A frightened Roman jailor once asked that question. “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” The answer from Paul and Silas was simple and straightforward: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved…” Simple faith – trust – is the only requirement for salvation. Have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ?
