Yesterday, the Flick family, New Life Church, the El Paso County Sherrif’s Department and the people of Colorado Springs gathered to bid farewell to Deputy Micah Flick. He sacrificed his life last Monday just a few blocks from our church serving and protecting our community. We owe him a debt of gratitude.
Deputy Flick left behind much more than the memory of an officer doing his duty. He left behind a testimony that the world has been unable to ignore. People including family, work, friends, even local media have mentioned that this “man of faith” was one who “lived to serve the Lord Jesus.” His selfless sacrifice has inspired people to take a closer look at the faith in Christ that made this man tick. In the words of Acts 4:13, “they realized that [Micah Flick] had been with Jesus.” May God grant us the honor of someday stepping away from this life and leaving that kind of legacy behind.
